Passing the time

I was doing my weekly long run today, at the moment it's 15 miles so that takes over 2 hours to complete.  My mind wanders when running, but today whilst running I wondered what other people think about.

Obviously on weekday runs my mind tends to drift towards work topics, sad but true.  But sometimes unique little thoughts pop into my head.  I'd like to say that they're Earth shattering and profound but they're not, usually trivial, but useful to me nonetheless.

I wonder if philosophers tend to run or if runners tend to be philosophers.  Nothing so grand for my random electrical pulses but it's a point worth pondering whilst out on my next run.  I can't imagine Socrates putting his running shoes on and hitting the road but you never know.
